Quantum dots, like CdSe quantum dots, single quantum well of CdSe/ZnS core/shell quantum dot and cadmium selenide/zinc sulfide quantum dots array, are subject to ongoing research as shown in figure 1 and 2. A lot of the reported synthesis procedures include precipitation, degassing or injection during the preparation. Amongst the most actively researched properties of quantum dots are emission, photoluminescence quantum yield and photoluminescence lifetime. Very often quantum dots are characterized by either photoluminescence, UV or UV-Vis spectroscopy. High impact articles within this field report applications in diagnostics, optoelectronics or power generation.
