Nanowires, like silver nanowires, ZnO nanowires and silicon nanowires, are subject to ongoing research as shown in figure 1 and 2. A lot of the reported synthesis procedures include hydrothermal synthesis, molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) or etching during the preparation. Amongst the most actively researched properties of nanowires are emission, electric current and cyclic voltammogram. Very often nanowires are characterized by either scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy or X-ray diffraction. High impact articles within this field report applications in fuel cells, electronics or optoelectronics.
