Nanowhiskers

Nanowhiskers, like β-iron oxyhydroxide nanowhiskers, slanting columnar Si nanostructures and goethite nanowhisker film/carbon paper, are subject to ongoing research as shown in figure 1 and 2. A lot of the reported synthesis procedures include hydrolysis, thermal evaporation or hydrothermal process during the preparation. Amongst the most actively researched properties of nanowhiskers are electron mobility, absorption coefficient and hole mobility. Very often nanowhiskers are characterized by either transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy or X-ray diffraction. High impact articles within this field report applications in drug delivery, power generation or cosmetics/sunscreens/lotions.
