Nanoporous materials, like mesoporous carbon, AAO and mesoporous silica, are subject to ongoing research as shown in figure 1 and 2. A lot of the reported synthesis procedures include carbonization, aging or pyrolysis during the preparation. Amongst the most actively researched properties of nanoporous materials are cyclic voltammogram, Nyquist plot and potential. Very often nanoporous materials are characterized by either X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy or transmission electron microscopy. High impact articles within this field report applications in catalysis, energy storage or adsorbents/absorbers/ion exchange materials.
